Objectives of the Institute

* Conducting research studies related to the national plan of Egypt.
* Conducting coordinated scientific research regarding important problems in various fields of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
* Assisting the engineering sector in Egypt with scientific methods that result in more efficient and economical outcomes.
* Providing solutions to daily construction problems in the field of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering through technical consultations and field investigation.
* Organizing training courses for engineers in the field of the Egyptian code of Soil Mechanics and Foundation engineering with its various specialties (15 field of interest) in order to improve and develop performance in design and implementation.
* Preparing and updating codes in the field of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering through its specialized committees (15 committees).
* Establishing a database at the level of cities of Egypt in terms of specifying the nature of soil formations and their characteristics for reference when setting up projects and making detailed site explorations.
* Activating and exchanging information through conferences and seminars in the field of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
