International Agreements & Cooperation

First: International agreements and international cooperation

1- Cooperation with Metropolis International:
Referring to the approval of the Board of Directors of the International Metropolis Organization, at its meeting in Moscow 2009, to establish a regional branch of the Metropolis Institute for the Middle East and Africa at the headquarters of the Housing and Building National Research Center in Cairo. Cooperation with the organization aims to provide participants in the various activities held by the branch, whether they are workshops, seminars, or... Conferences provide a clear, comprehensive and modern idea about any topic related to urban development and add new information to their experiences.
During the period from 2009 to 2015, there were many aspects of cooperation between the Center as a representative of Egypt, as the regional branch of the Metropolis Training Institute for Africa and the Middle East, in cooperation with, Metropolis, provided specialized training programs in a number of fields, including the field of sustainable development of facilities and infrastructure, the field of development of slum areas, the field of area preservation of value, and the field of city administration and local planning.
Some examples of the training programs that have been organized:
Online training program: Smart Cities and Covid-19 "November 2020
Due to the demand for this workshop and the inability to meet the participation of all trainees, the course was evaluated, developed, and held after development in July and August 2021.
2- Cooperation with German Aid:
Formulating and implementing training courses for slum units in the Greater Cairo region in cooperation with the Slum Fund and German Aid 2015-2017
3- Cooperation with the European Commission: (more)
Institutional Capacity Building Program of the European Union Higher Education Erasmus Plus program.
1- Establishing a study program for architecture at Nile University (as one of the participating universities) in partnership with Egyptian and European universities from 2017 to 2021.

2- Establishing a specialized training program to build capabilities in the field of urban transport renewal in the Middle East and North Africa region, in partnership with Egyptian and European universities, from 2020 to 2023.

Second: Local Agreements

1- Cooperation with the Slum Development Fund:
This takes place during the period from January 2021 until October (now), and according to the terms and conditions document, where the third phase was completed.
“Preparing development plans for the areas of Dakahlia Governorate” and submitting them in May 2021.
The largest part has been completed and the executive plans are being presented for areas not subject to antiquities, which is the area of the intellectual facility, Abu Qurqas, Minya Governorate, after taking into account the new building and planning requirements for Minya Governorate, as they were presented to the development partners in October 2021.
- The initial executive plan for the Naga Al-Sayeh area, the city of Al-Busayliyah, Aswan Governorate, was prepared and presented to development partners and the governor, and legal approvals are being obtained to take them into account in the final plan.
- Proposed agreement between HBRC, ISDF and Giza Governorate for upgrading of informal areas, 2021.

2- Cooperation with the General Authority for Urban Planning and the New Urban Communities Authority.
- Preparing strategic plans for cities such as (Dikernes - Al-Fashn).
- Preparing strategic plans for the villages of the Republic in several governorates, such as (Qalyubia - Sharqia - Beni Suef - Fayoum - Matrouh) and the villages of the desert back of the governorate (Assiut - Qena - Beni Suef) (period from 2004 - 2008)
- Preparing urban estates for manors, and hamlets, such as, (Bani Suef - Fayoum) governorate.
- Preparing general and detailed plans and executive drawings for the Build Your House project for the following cities (6th of October - Badr - Al-Nubaria - New Beni Suef - New Fayoum - New Sohag).
- Preparing architectural designs for housing models such as the Build Your House project.
3- Cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research to finance research.
- Evaluation of urban experiences in the suburbs of Cairo - a case study of Heliopolis and the Endowments City - 1991
- Raising the efficiency and exploitation of new cities “documentary study” - 1991
- Design and planning of urban communities in new reclamation areas – 1994.
- A project to evaluate the human settlement experience of the aluminum complex in Naga Hammadi (a comparative analytical study of the one-factory city) - The theoretical introduction to the company city as one of the types of new industrial cities – 1996.
- Urban planning for the Egyptian village - the first stage:
A documentary study of the current situation of the Egyptian village – 1999.
- Project to improve the environment of dilapidated urban communities – 1989.
- Rural housing and urban planning for the Egyptian village 1978- -1980.
- The impact of the social, health and psychological dimensions of designing appropriate housing and residential complexes – 2002.
4- Cooperation with USAID to fund research.
- Design standards for educational buildings for the basic education stages in Egypt.
- Informal housing in Egypt.
5- Cooperation with the Social Fund for Development to finance research.
- Feasibility study for developing productive communities for youth in Badr City – 2002.
- An urban map project for planning and developing small and medium industries in Egypt - A geographical information base for preparing an investment map for small and medium enterprises in Egypt - 2005
